Smokey Cauliflower Bites

Bake, grill, or fry 'em - either way these tasty cauliflower bites will not disappoint.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 Cup Chickpea Flour

  • 1 Cup Warm Water

  • 1 Small Cauliflower Head

  • 2 Teaspoons Garlic Powder

  • 2 Teaspoons Paprika

  • 1 Teaspoon Salt

  • 1/2 Teaspoon Liquid Smoke

  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil for frying

Method:

  • Wash and dry the cauliflower well, cut into small florets and set aside.

  • In a separate bowl mix the Chickpea Flour, Salt, Garlic Powder, & Paprika.

  • Add the warm water & liquid smoke, mix it well. (Add more water if the batter is too thick. You want a smooth batter, not too runny but not too sticky either.)

  • Dip each piece of cauliflower into the batter and make sure it is coated well.

For the frying option:

  • Heat a skillet on medium to high heat with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, place the coated cauliflower bites in a single layer, after about 3 minutes they should be nice and crispy, add more oil if needed, flip and get the opposite side crispy and golden as well.

  • Once both sides are crispy; lower the heat and keep them in the pan for about ten minutes, constantly mixing, stirring, and checking to make sure they do not burn.

For the baking option:

  • Place the cauliflower bites in a single layer, on a cookie sheet or flat pan in the oven - preheated to 400 Degrees Fahrenheit.

  • After 10 Minutes the Cauliflower should be crispy and golden - flip to get the same result on the opposite side - after another 10 minutes lower the heat to 350 and keep the cauliflower bites in the oven for another 20 minutes.

Pair it with your favorite dipping sauces, serve it to friends and family or eat the whole thing! Either way, enjoy it & remember to share your comments with me!

In the recent months I experimented with many different cauliflower "wing" recipes and always ended in a sticky mess. I'm glad I found a recipe that actually works, and was mostly simple to create. Thanks LovemybodybyMiriam!!
